You are too Valuable for that .....

Writer: R. Rene' Woodard R. Rene' Woodard

When I go to my favorite retailers, I never forget to enter my loyalty number. From Target to Walgreens and Wegmans and occasionally Old Navy and Nike you better believe I am going to ensure that I get all of my points and rewards from being a valued member/shopper.

At times just for being enrolled in a retailer’s reward program can get you early “access” to shopping deals and exclusive access codes for early bird pricing and specialty items just because you are considered a valued customer. In other cases, you get more rewards for the more you spend or for spending over a certain $$ amount over time.

Those that shop at these retailers tend to get more rewards than others for their loyalty.

This process caused me to think about my  own store ( Life).

I found myself taking inventory of my own value and loyalty. I assessed it from the lens of my personal and professional value, my loyalty to others and from the external lens of how much I am valued , how loyal folks have or have not been to me and so much more. Somehow it led me down a rabbit hole of moments that I may have given others “access” to exclusive merchandise ( me) , specialty items (time) and early bird pricing ( Light/Energy) without ensuring the people , places or things were indeed loyal members.

Have you ever been there?

Have you ever given exclusive access or privileges to those that have not deemed themselves Loyal members of your Life Store?

If the answer is Yes , forgive yourself for not recognizing your own Value in those encounters. From not asking for a higher salary and/or for settling in relationships with people who have not signed up, earned, or contributed to the program. (Think no reciprocity and bare minimum)

While there are some people and places who get the luxury of having reward perks for just signing up in your personal life store you must be sure to do an audit periodically just to ensure people are not getting VIP rewards without the spend or requiring them to enter their phone numbers at check-out.

As you go into this last week of October 2024 , I urge you to revisit the terms and conditions of your loyalty program . Check the fine print, modify the policy where needed and make sure you are getting your VALUE at all times. You are the CEO of your LIFE store, and you have both the right and the extended grace to give and to get what you need out of the Loyalty programs you have subscribed to and of those that have subscribed to yours!

As for me , the next few weeks are dedicated to the Loyal Members , the VIPs , those that not only drink and show up for the discounts but for those that SPEND and Pour willingly and who are really VALUED, LOYAL members of this life store. The ones that never miss a sale , which share with others just how VALUABLE it is to be a member of my life store.

I urge you to end this month CLEAR, HONEST, and surrounded by not just people you LOVE but people who LOVE you as well. This season calls for real community , real connection, and real family, YOU are Valuable and so are others assess the program wisely!

PS.  This entry is not for everyone ….but I know there is at least one of you who needed this reminder to reset and stop giving out that LIGHT and ACCESS for free …YOU are worth way too much friend!

In Community,

RR xoxo
