What would you do if nobody was watching you?

At times I wish we could go back to the days where your business was your business?

You know the days when not everything went on the internet for all to consume?  Like what were you doing pre-internet? Pre-content creator? Pre-______________________ fill in the blank whatever you are now and whatever the world calls it?  That’s the person I want to chat with this week.  YOU before you were Internet YOU?  Does it look the same? Is this just your life now with a camera?  Or does it look totally different because you know the world thrives on other people’s business? Or because what you like has become what everybody likes? 

I really want to know because no matter which way I turn be it a quick run to target or TJ’s or the gym. There is 100% paparazzi in the corner on the floor aka your tripod or you holding up the line to get the shot at the register?  Now before I go let me say (I know some folks are paid partners and I looooove that for you, I do but go early in the AM and get that content friend) not when we tryna run in and grab an avocado and the flowers?  The suburban city girl housewife in me is often on a in/out mission and I did not sign any release of information to have my feet, hand, cart or shadow in your shot for the interweb!

Sorry not sorry! Somebody gotta say it and maybe today it must be me.

I was recently asked to do a podcast interview ….

I declined… Confused, I was asked why? In true sistergirl fashion, I politely explained how, I did not think my words would be the most entertaining for that audience. Still confused, I explained I am in the most honest, open and transparent (H-O-T) place in my life and quite frankly I may something that will rattle, or piss your audience clean off because we don’t drink the same water.

Saying NO to things that don’t represent your brand or their brand well is a superpower too!

You don’t have to say YES to everything.

Some things require your NO. Not because you cannot but because you should NOT.

((Bonus: and just because you don’t does not mean your “brand” or “business” or “thing” won’t get the exposure you desire))

When I first started Lifebrand many many moons ago --- It was on the hems of YOU are a walking brand.  The power, the aura, the glide in your step the confidence, character and scent of one ‘s personality and the uniqueness that makes up the wonderful humans we are …and the mantra remains the same.   I am a walking brand and so are YOU, with the cameras on or off!

So, I will ask again ….

What were you doing when the cameras were off?

Is there something you should be doing more of but you are not because the camera is there? Or because the camera is NOT there?  ((Be honest))

At times these things can be one of the same …. how?

Because some people do it because the cameras are there and some WON’T do it because there is no camera! Which one are you? or do you toggle between both?

What will it take for you to just BE?  To lean into the gifts on your life with 1 friend or 2 friends, 1 – million followers or 100 followers? What type of impact would you make if there was no internet award to show for it?

The Validation period has expired…. And y’all should have let me stay quiet but now I’m woke. Lol

It is beyond time to re-dig the old wells of YOU! To Invest in YOU rather than INVEST in the tools to prove to others who you are!

 I tell my friends all the time I have no interest in just looking good, I’d rather place my efforts on being GOOD.  Looking good will get you in the room but I guarantee it won’t be the thing that keeps you in the room!

 Are you good when nobody is watching?

Are you good when the camera is off and the shipment is low?

Are you good when you have on no -make up and the blood, sweat and tears show?

Are you doing what you would do if a camera was not required? Is there 1? ( Too many folks just doing stuff and not enough folks doing THE STUFF that the world needs!!)

Just curious…… what were you doing before? Did it make the same difference or impact?

 Did you feel better about YOU then or now? I ain’t ya therapist but answer the questions for yourself! Be honest with yourself before you lean in to press RECORD on anything else!

Some people don’t deserve the amount of access to your life that you allow.

There are some things that are happening for you and your family and around you that are in it’s first trimester and it needs to stay protected so it won't be revealed prematurely!  

Now don’t get it twisted celebrate your wins as you see fit, have fun with your loved ones , dance, scream , smile, share those things that you need help with to make the impact but check your motive before you find yourself in the habit of posting more than you are protecting your own posture and purpose!
