The Key of Now - Creating a new song!

What’s up family!!! 6 days until 5/27  and #RR44 has been complete since last week.  You heard it right got my 44 miles in quick , fast and in a hurry because I knew the days leading up to my personal Holiday would be full!

Coming off of another week of crazy travel and commitment , I found myself both motivated and lazy? Ever felt that way .  Like yeah “ eager “ as heck on the inside and prepared to do a thing yet also prepared and ready to do nothing ALL at the same time. I began reflecting on birthdays past.  The ones that were good and the ones that did not go as planned. I recall the BIG 40 in the middle of a pandemic where all of my “ planned” festivities had to be canceled yet my friends and family still found a way to sit in my driveway 6 feet apart with chairs or in their cars just to make a girl feel special. Or the time I threw a Happy Hour , A house-warming and a birthday party in the same 48hrs and let’s not forget the All-white brunch where we closed down a restaurant in downtown DC because they did not believe me when I said I have a “large “ number of people coming.  Though nowhere near picture perfect my LIFE has been both a dream and an answered prayer on more occasions than I can count and for that I am, GRATEFUL.

Many people tend to focus on what did not happen or the nightmares that come with unexpected life moments but today , this week , this month I am choosing to focus my thoughts on what did happen , what is happening and what will happen.  You know  the joyful offerings of life in the key of now! The kind of offering that leaves you in both tears and laughter at the same time. The offering that reminds you that as long as you have breath in your body you are winning. That’s the 1st song on this 40+ life soundtrack I am in the process of creating so just know , it’s a vibe and for the young queens and kings that just means it’s a bop! Lol  

As I prepare for the birthday tour it’s only right that I start with encouraging you! In your quiet time this week as you reflect use music as a guide to your reflection around evolution. Music has changed drastically over the years. But what I love about music is the artistry and how there is always room in a song for evolution. Have you ever noticed that? Think of your favorite song?  Where was the sound pulled from? Is it something you have heard before? Think about how many of them came back with remixes. Like they added in an appearance from a new , popular artist or a new bridge or extra horn or two and for some they just remastered it a bit and re-released the same song causing the legacy of the song to live on and on. Does any song come to mind yet? Or maybe the ones written in 1975, 1960 that were simply remade by new artist putting old words into a new perspective even in 2024? We have witnessed in both R&B and Gospel. What I love most is it keeps ALL THINGS NEW and fresh and that good people is my prayer for each of you . That you begin to SEE even the old things in your life as new, where room for evolution is present. I urge you the remainder of this week to begin curating a new soundtrack or remix to your life as well. Not one moment is the same as the last no matter how much you think it resembles such. Do not get so caught up in recreating the same moment twice just because of how it made you feel but create a new moment , a new sound  if you will , with the same beautiful words and foundational pieces you already possess.

Every house , heart and song deserves a makeover from time to time and the time for you to make yours over is NOW by dropping the remix that has the power to change the world!!!
