What’s up family! Life per usual has Life’ d all the way through January and here we are February 2024 saying, “Happy New Year” AGAIN. Lol, it’s honestly what I love and hate about life, YOU never know what you are going to get. You just live to be prepared or not and do the best you can with what you have along the way.
January was so FULL. So many wonderful things happened but so did some challenging ones. What never waivered was my ability to Keep Going and my desire to PRAY for everybody I encountered including myself. Have you ever had a new encounter with yourself and realized, I need to pray for her/him too or maybe it’s just me. (Inserts birdman hands, lol)
As I began to think about what the month of February would look like for me and what I desire for it to look like I realized that they look quite different lol and that there are just some things that I can’t control. In that moment I accepted the hard reality that it won’t always be Main Character Energy nor Main character adjacent. We see the highlight reels and not the lowlights, the outcome and not the process, you get to see everything Major and Main, but you rarely see the wins, lessons and blessings that come with playing supportive cast member roles. Some of which yielded main character results in silence. How do you think one becomes a MAIN character in a film? Every Main character once sat in a role of support and unfortunately MAIN CHARACTER ONLY attitudes can sometimes set people up for failure if they are not knowledgeable that there is still a required process to become….
Main Character energy remains good for CONFIDENCE and being the narrator of your own story in a self-affirming way, but it will lead to your demise if you believe it includes CONTROL.
I am a firm believer that we must be honest with ourselves first in order to be honest with anyone else and this is me being honest with you and for you. Did we not learn in 2020 that control was not our portion? We have choices that will control outcomes but babe we don’t control tomorrow and if we did, I could almost guarantee we would make different choices today. (Read it again)
As you begin to think about how you show up in the world this new year, this new month, I urge you to:
Never despise small beginnings – Supporting Cast members are blessed too! It confirms you are in the game! Small beginnings, small wins are what lead to the Main Stage. Celebrate it all.
Be confident but don’t Belittle others – We are all set apart and walking through different seasons your UP does not mean others are DOWN. Be careful not to Main Character Energy yourself out of friendships and opportunities because of your attitude or arrogant posture. (There’s no Gina without Pam, Kobe without Shaq, Weber without Rose) There’s a place for both!
And lastly ….
Don’t forget the real MAIN CHARACTER of your life (GOD). Don’t get so caught up in your own aura that you forget you have not always been this or that. The process, the experience, the open doors, the protection is what contributed to who you are and where you are. Give credit where credit is due. Every chance I get I thank GOD and I thank my old mentor Marsha Wilson and Dr. Colleen Croxall who were very instrumental in me BECOMING this profound and interesting woman that you get to encounter on various of occasions personally and professionally. We are because they were and ultimately because he IS, so don’t be afraid to let him be the star of this film because with him you will never be left out the scene!!
