August is for the Ambitious.....

As I embark upon the final stretch of another life accomplishment I can’t help but think of the many ambitious people that I cross paths with that remain celebrated but judged at the same time. It’s a really interesting concept …

On one hand people are happy for you …… on the other hand those same people lead with “ here we go again” …. “ You always doing something” …. “ You know too much” …. The list goes on…

Quite the oxymoron if you ask me but quite real for the ambitious goal-getter who simply rocks to the beat of their own personal drum. …

What I realized in watching this in real time with people near and far is that somewhere along the journey another person’s accomplishment has become somewhat of a light switch to fragile minds who rest in comparison and competition. As if another person’s WIN somehow means the next person has LOSS and that’s NOT true. I would like to blame this on lust of the eye from people spending so much time doom scrolling , looking at people’s lives from a highlighted lens on social platforms but it really comes from a deeper lens.

The self-reflection Lens…. The one that has a personal algorithm of daily comparison embedded in their thoughts all because they dared NOT to START and someone else actually FINISHED.

In full transparency this used to happen to me with bright ideas ALL the time!!! I would talk about an amazing idea; concept even develop prototypes never execute and be mad when I see someone else launch something similar. It used to literally burn me up….and what really burned me up is when people I told would steal the idea in my eyes ( Another story , another day) but the real burn was not about them, not that they did what I said I wanted to do but that I slept on myself too long and someone else finished it.

I remember being at NFL game many years ago in Nashville before mobile hotspots were popular and noticing everyone charging their phones in bathroom or forced to watch the entire game with a dead cell phone. I called an engineer friend immediately after that, he agreed to build me an entire mobile charging unit prototype, and I had the bright idea to place the stations in airports because that’s where I was spending most of my days on work travel.  I thought to myself how amazing it would be to have access to charging stations during delays. Now fast forward to 2026 those machines are in every facility, charging stations built on seats at airports and even enhanced on airplanes and at sporting events.

I think to myself at times , what if I would have sold my prototype. Executed my vision and did not sleep on myself or my idea.

Millions left on the table for another ambitious, creative mind to deliver….and many of them did.

I could not be mad at them .

I could only congratulate them.

The same goes for YOU when it comes to your friends, family, associates and others who are moving forward going after every GOD GOAL they set for themselves. 100% of the time your disdain or shade is due to the mirror that showcases your procrastination, lack of effort or dedicated time or energy towards completing your own GOD GOAL and that’s not their problem, its YOURS.  

As you lean into the month of August, I challenge you to clean your heart valves, rinse your eyes , log-off and unfollow anyone or anything that triggers your insecurities.

Remove anything that ignites the spirit of comparison or competition and put that energy to work towards your WINS.

I really don’t know who this is for today because I had a totally different topic in mind, just  know you have more to WIN than you do to LOSE if you just try!

As cliché’ as it sounds Comparison really is the thief of JOY!

You have not been forgotten.

Your timetable is different for a reason.

You don’t have to go at the same pace to win the race.

Reframe your thinking and watch how quickly that Congratulations becomes a pathway for your participation.

Bottom Line , get focused , don’t be a silent hater and put your own AMBITION to ACTION!

And to my fellow Ambitious, Driven Go-Getters, keep winning , Don’t DIM your light, turn the heat up. IRON really does sharpen IRON along the way!😊
