Greetings Peeps!!!
I pray that each of you are having a wonderful week thus far!!
My goal is definitely to do better with my weekly check-ins and doses of inspiration and it my friends will remain a goal until it’s complete and I am as consistent as I can be! Real Talk, I stay busy with lots of moving parts and an overwhelming amount of experiences and light bulb moments. Y'all would honestly get tired of me ...well not really lol
Real quick, Define Turn UP? Please like seriously, Define Turn UP!
I recently had a missed call from a friend/associate; When I returned the call around 5pm or 6pm I was out at a birthday celebration and her reply was you are the " Turn Up" queen and that's why I called you because I was trying to get out to get my mind off some things and you are my only friend who turns up but the lord told me to stay on in etc. I just listened and I honestly did not know rather to be offended or flattered. It always amazes me how people tend to label others by what they consider a thing to be. Let me clarify......Going to dinner with friends ( Turn up) , Attending a play or musical ( turn up) , Celebrating a friends birthday on a Tuesday or on a Saturday ( Turn Up), Traveling on a regular basis ( Turn up), Attending meetings with Co-workers, a Business or personal development Conference ( turn up) .... All of these things are considered a "Turn Up" to some and simply LIVING to others! Repeat after me, I will not be defined by the labels society attempts to place on me for having a LIFE. PeriodT! I said repeat after me because I know each of you experience this same thing one way or another be it because you really be turning up or because you are really BUSY most times just like me! People have convinced themselves that Life is not supposed to be fun or exciting! I am personally convinced that most people call anything outside of their normal routine or personal day to day activities or liking a "Turn Up”..... And frown upon such until it's their turn or desire to TURN UP (go figure).... So someone please Define Turn UP? While I believe people are entitled to their own opinions, I also believe they have to understand the meaning of the words being used. So me being the scholar that I am ....HA, looked it up in the urban dictionary and I should have been offended. Did you know that Turn up, Turnt is defined as “Getting Loose”. .....and being Wild....... and if you say they were " Turnt" this is used to describe the state of being wild and crazy like someone would be at a party or in the streets???? (Inserts an emoji of your choice) But How SWAY? HOW?
The bible states that " I SHALL “LIVE" Psalm 118:17 , " He came that I may have life and have it more “Abundantly" - John 10:10---- Get a dictionary , go on Webster's or GRAB your bibles for future reference!! While on vacation with family and friends we took a moment and had a group praise celebration one night. It was a night dedicated to sharing testimony, offering up prayer for one another and a quick word from the lord. The scripture reference used during the time was the following and it blessed us in our moment of celebration:
Ecclesiastes- 9:7-10
Seize life! Eat bread with gusto, Drink wine with a robust heart. Oh yes—God takes pleasure in your pleasure! Dress festively every morning. Don’t skimp on colors and scarves. Relish life with the spouse you love Each and every day of your precarious life. Each day is God’s gift. It’s all you get in exchange for the hard work of staying alive. Make the most of each one! Whatever turns up, grab it and do it. And heartily! This is your last and only chance at it, for there’s neither work to do nor thoughts to think in the company of the dead, where you’re most certainly headed.
The way you live, what you embrace, what you do is up to YOU!! TO BE ALIVE IS THE real turn up in a world where death is knocking down both the young and the old! I want to encourage you as I encourage myself to continue to LIVE out loud and show people that loving CHRIST and LOVING LIFE is a real thing!!
So again, how do you define Turn up!? I’ll stick to God’s way rather than the opinion of others, it’s always better to see the beauty in the colors that live outside the lines. For those that are just too churchy, judgmental and whom have taken up their own personal definition on others God Bless you, for those interested in Truth and who don’t like dead company ….. TURN UP!
