Happy New Year, Don't Judge me!
Happy New Year!!
I know it's been a minute right?? Well I could not just sit here and let another month pass us by without reaching out to my faithful followers, subscribers, family and friends without a little jam juice to get you going at the top of this month. I know I say it often but time just continues to fly and if I am honest it's scary now.... I looked back and realized last time I shared on this platform was December. It's now a new year and it's the 2nd month of that year already. If I told you all that has taken place since December this would no longer be a blog and be more of a book that I would definitely have to charge you for so I'll keep it short and sweet and just let you know that life has simply been life. It has not been perfect but it has been an amazing ride thus far and my prayer is that if that is not a piece of your testimony thus far that it will become such in coming weeks because this my friends is just the beginning!
As 2017 came to a close and I reflected on all that I had endured be it good or bad I realized just how thankful I ought to be for every single trial, lesson and blessing that came with the year 2017. Not because I deserved any of it but because I was able to live through it , to be able to see it, touch it, feel it and experience it all with my whole heart when many others are not here to say the same. In my reflection I discovered some things about myself and about others. I discovered that we take some of the little things for granted and that we are all very controlling in our own right. Like we plan and lead a life of entitlement more times than we really should. We use words like “let’s wait until tomorrow”, “I don’t feel like it”, “next time” and “why me” as if we have control over anything attached to it. If you think about the last time you used any of those words I bet you could dial it back to a time or two where you made it about you when it really was not and/or a time where you probably wish you would have did tomorrow the day before and more. So I guess it’s almost safe to say were both controlling and selfish, would you agree?
I know you are thinking “ no, not me”……but I am assured that many of you reading this went to bed last night after the big game ready to conquer a tomorrow that you just knew you would see. Not thinking twice about who or what owns and controls your TOMORROW. By now you get where I am going with this and my share today is simple... STOP TAKING LIFE TODAY FOR GRANTED for tomorrow is truly not promised. GOD, the universe, the higher power that you believe in does not owe you a thing. I want people to understand this! It’s time that we make an attitude adjustment about life and how we live it. Yes we get caught up , yes we are human and experience real feelings , yes our schedules are overburden and we don’t always have time to do all that we want to do in a day but I am here to tell you that there are many people that would be grateful to have the very thing that you don’t appreciate. Like the ability to breath without a machine. Like a warm house and a meal.
Last week I was walking to work and I passed several homeless people along this walk daily some say nothing while others ask for things …. But this particular day one that would normally ask for something did not ask for anything at all he simply smiled and said “ Have a good day today” I paused and look backed and said you do the same stay warm. In that moment I realized that life could be very different for us all in the blink of an eye. Despite his circumstance he was willing to encourage me in my day when he could have easily remained focused on himself. We have to do better in our personal dealings and take a minute to reflect on all that’s good because I am sure it will outweigh the bad.
Gratitude over Everything!
I challenge each of you this week to have the fortitude to exude gratitude in all you do! It will change your life. Xoxo
